The Family’s Problematic Chariman - Chapter 18
The lips that were on Rong Yan seemed unsatisfied with the chaste kiss. Li Shengxiao attempted to bite her lips. Images of a tangled pair of bodies flashed through Rong Yan’s mind and she shuddered. With all her strength, she pushed the man who was kissing her away.
“Mr. Li, what was that?”
There was barely any distance between them—she was forced into his embrace. The man’s cologne bombarded her senses, reminding her of their compromising position.
Li Shengxiao’s eyes were dark and his breathing was heavy, his face flushed. His headache had magically disappeared when he kissed Rong Yan.
The soft and sweet-smelling woman in his embrace was as he remembered. There was no revulsion or disgust on his part. Furthermore, when her small hands hit his chest, he felt something kindle in his lower belly. He had not felt this way in a long time. He tightened his grip on the slim wrists and leaned in. The sharp eyes were fixed on Rong Yan as Li Shengxiao said in a husky voice, “Will you believe me if I said I thought you were someone else?”
‘Will you believe me if I said I thought you were someone else?’
His fiery gaze told Rong Yan there was no way this was a case of misidentification. However, she did not have the confidence to accuse Li Shengxiao of wanting to kiss her. She did not want to earn the ire of the whole female population in Beijing.
She awkwardly tried to pull her arms away. “Oh. It’s fine. Mr. Li…”
Li Shengxiao’s instincts told him to hold on but in the end, he released his hold on her. “Who were you looking for?”
The change of topic was a natural progression and no one realized it was intentional.
He was Li Shengxiao after all.
Why would Li Shengxiao avoid a topic?
Rong Yan’s focus was successfully shifted. “I’m here for Dr. Cui.”
“You know him?” Rong Yan wanted to pay her bills and leave. “Do you know where Dr. Cui is?”
“A family friend.”
Li Shengxiao placed his hands into his coat pocket and said in a neutral tone, “He was called away by the Dean. You’re here to pay for the medical bills?”
“He brought it up when I ran into him. Don’t worry, I already paid.”
Cui Jiangjing heard their conversation through the tiny gap of the closet door. Li Shengxiao was going to shortchange him of a few hundred bucks. Cui Jiangjing almost wanted to rush out of his hiding spot.
Unfortunately, he lacked the courage to do so.
Cui Jiangjing saw it with his own eyes—Boss Li initiated a kiss with the woman. A forced kiss!
A forced kiss!
The woman was not impressed.
“Since we ran into each other, how about I give you a ride?”
Li Shengxiao’s gesture was gentlemanly but his intense gaze made Rong Yan self-conscious—her limbs felt awkward as she stood.
‘Kindly reject him. He can’t say anything if you do it with a smile.
‘Feels weird to accept the offer.’
Li Shengxiao seemed to sense Rong Yan’s reluctance and said, “I hear Miss Rong studied traditional medicine abroad. I happen to know someone who is in need of your specialization.”
Before Rong Yan could turn him down, he continued, “It’s a kid. It’s not convenient for me to bring him around.”
Rong Yan met Li Shengxiao’s eyes with surprise.
“He’s adorable. I’m sure you’ll like him. Sorry to trouble you like this.” The man did not even consider a rejection from Rong Yan—without letting her get a word in, he left with his coat swaying.
Rong Yan was speechless.
She had no choice but to follow him.
Once the pair left the office, Cui Jiangjing crawled out of the large closet. He watched as their silhouettes disappeared into the distance before pulling out his phone to dial a number.
Li Shengxiao’s methods were undoubtedly exceptional. He orchestrated an encounter and kissed the woman but pretended it was not his intention. He sold out his friend and even roped in his son to get a chance with her. The whole execution was smooth and flawless—Cui Jiangjing’s jaw hung open.
Who said the Boss was bad at picking up ladies? Li Shengxiao was his daddy from now on.
